bee noun
- pûeng falling
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
Classifier: ตัวdtua · counting word for animals, clothes, tables and chairs
How to use it
ผึ้งpûeng has a falling tone and the vowel ue, said with spread lips. A bee doesn't bite in Thai, it punches: a sting is ต่อยdtàwy, the same word as punching someone. Wasps and hornets are ตัวต่อdtua dtàw and แตนdtaen.
Honey is น้ำผึ้งnáam-pûeng, "bee water", and a honeymoon is น้ำผึ้งพระจันทร์náam-pûeng prá-jan, "honey moon", just as in English.
