How to use it

คืนkuuen is giving back what isn't yours: a book, money you borrowed, a rented car or scooter. Thais usually add a direction or a person: เอามาคืนao maa kuuen, bring it back, ส่งคืนsòng kuuen, send it back, and คืนให้kuuen hâi, give it back to someone. A refund is คืนเงินkuuen-ngoen, but many shops don't take returns: receipts and signs say ไม่รับเปลี่ยนคืนmâi ráp bplìan kuuen, no exchanges or returns.

It's the same word as night: คืนนี้kuuen-níi, tonight.
