ฆ่า kâa
to kill verb
- kâa falling
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
How to use it
ฆ่าkâa has a falling tone, the same sound as ค่าkâa, a fee. Not killing is the first of Buddhism's five precepts, ศีลห้าsǐin hâa, and you'll see the word in pest control too: ยาฆ่ายุงyaa kâa yung is mosquito spray. As in English, ฆ่าเวลาkâa wee-laa is to kill time.
