service; to serve noun
- baw mid
- rí high
- gaan mid
- High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.
You see it on every bill: ค่าบริการkâa baw-rí-gaan = service charge.
You'll hear it in Your Heart for My Number (ขอใจเธอแลกเบอร์โทร).
How to use it
บริการbaw-rí-gaan is service and also the verb "to serve". Restaurants and hotels often add a service charge, ค่าบริการkâa baw-rí-gaan, usually 10%, and self-service is บริการตัวเองbaw-rí-gaan dtua-eeng, "serve yourself". Good service, with a smile and a polite word, is something Thais notice and talk about.
