Snow in Thai

“Snow” in Thai is หิมะhì-má.

หิมะ hì-má

snow noun

  • hì low
  • má high
  • Low: flat and lower than your normal voice, dropping a little at the end.
  • High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.

How to use it

It never snows in Thailand, so seeing snow is a dream for many Thais, and winter trips to Japan and Korea are popular. Snow falls, like rain: หิมะตกhì-má dtòk. The closest Thailand gets is frost on the coldest mornings at the top of Doi Inthanon, the country's highest mountain: Northerners call it เหมยขาบmǒei-kàap, and in Isan it's แม่คะนิ้งmâe-ká-níng.
