การ์ตูนgaa-dtuun covers cartoons on TV, comics and Japanese manga and anime alike; a comic book is a หนังสือการ์ตูนnǎng-sǔue gaa-dtuun. The r in the spelling is silent. Many Thai adults grew up on Japanese cartoons, and bookshops have whole walls of Thai-translated manga.
