ซื่อสัตย์sûue-sàt is honest and loyal at once: a taxi driver who returns your wallet, a partner who'd never cheat, a dog waiting by the door. For honest speech, Thais say พูดตรงๆpûut dtrong-dtrong, to speak straight, but bluntness is used with care: ขอพูดตรงๆนะkǎw pûut dtrong-dtrong ná, "may I be frank?", warns that something unwelcome is coming.
