หัวเราะ hǔa-ráw
to laugh verb
- hǔa rising
- ráw high
- Rising: start low, dip, then rise to the top, like a doubtful “Really?”
- High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.
How to use it
หัวเราะhǔa-ráw has a rising tone, then a high one. Thais often laugh or smile to ease an awkward moment, so a laugh doesn't always mean something is funny. Finding something funny is ขำkǎm, and laughing at someone, mocking them, is หัวเราะเยาะhǔa-ráw yáw.
In chats, laughter is typed 555: five is ห้าhâa, so it reads "ha ha ha".
