to overthink (things) verb
- kít high
- mâak falling
- High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
อย่าคิดมากyàa kít mâak = don't worry about it, don't overthink it.
You'll hear it in Faen Mai Na Khun (แฟนใหม่หน้าคุ้น).
How to use it
คิดมากkít mâak, "think a lot", isn't praise for a deep thinker: it's worrying, dwelling on things, reading too much into a message. อย่าคิดมากyàa kít mâak, don't overthink it, is what Thais say to cheer up a friend, much like "don't worry about it", and someone easygoing is ไม่คิดมากmâi kít mâak. Thinking something over carefully, the good kind of thinking, is คิดให้ดีkít hâi dii, and worrying about someone you love is เป็นห่วงbpen-hùang.
