How to use it
ราชินีraa-chí-nii is a queen in history, fairy tales, chess and cards, and "the queen of" anything: the mangosteen is the queen of fruits, next to the durian, the king, and the late Pumpuang Duangjan is still called ราชินีลูกทุ่งraa-chí-nii lûuk-tûng, the queen of Thai country music. Thailand's own Queen is พระราชินีprá-raa-chí-nii, with the respectful พระprá in front: Queen Suthida, the wife of King Vajiralongkorn. Royalty has its own polite vocabulary, so speak about the royal family respectfully.
