How to use it

Thais call มังคุดmang-kút the queen of fruits, partner to ทุเรียนtú-rian, the king. Press the thick purple shell between your palms until it cracks: inside are soft white segments, sweet and a little tangy. The juice of the shell stains clothes, so open it carefully.

It's a rainy-season fruit, sold by the kilo from about April to September.
