Shout in Thai

“Shout” in Thai is ตะโกนdtà-goon; you'll also hear กรี๊ดgríit (scream).

How to use it

ตะโกนdtà-goon is raising your voice to be heard, or in anger. Shouting at someone in public makes everyone lose face in Thailand: a calm voice, ใจเย็นjai-yen, gets far more done, at a market as much as at immigration.

A high, excited scream, at a concert or when a cockroach runs past, is กรี๊ดgríit.
