Spare parts in Thai

“Spare parts” in Thai is อะไหล่à-lài.

อะไหล่ à-lài

spare part, spare parts noun

  • à low
  • lài low
  • Low: flat and lower than your normal voice, dropping a little at the end.

How to use it

อะไหล่à-lài is two low syllables: spare parts for a car, a motorbike, an air-con or a phone. A garage will ask whether you want อะไหล่แท้à-lài táe, genuine parts, or cheaper copies, and a repair that waits for a part takes รออะไหล่raw à-lài, "waiting for parts". Popular motorbikes are cheap to fix because parts are everywhere.
