แท็กซี่táek-sîi has a high tone, then a falling one. Bangkok's taxis have meters and drivers are supposed to use them: if one quotes a flat price, ask for the มิเตอร์mí-dtôe or wait for the next car. Many people book through an app instead and just say เรียกแกร็บrîak gráep, "call a Grab", whether a taxi or a private car turns up.
