ผูกพันpùuk-pan, "tied and wound together", is the closeness that grows with time: between family, old friends, a pet and its owner, or you and a place you've lived in for years, usually with กับgàp. The bond itself is ความผูกพันkwaam-pùuk-pan. สายใยsǎai-yai, "a fine thread", is the poetic word for a tie between people, in songs and speeches: สายใยรักsǎai-yai rák, a bond of love.
