How to use it
ชิลchiu, from the English "chill", is relaxed and unhurried: a café with a good vibe, a lazy Sunday, a friend who never panics. Thai has no final l, so most people say it chiu, and many also write it that way, ชิวchiu. Doubled, ชิลๆchiu-chiu, it's the most common form, close to the native สบายๆsà-baai-sà-baai. It's casual: perfect with friends and in chats, a bit odd in a meeting.
