How to use it

เจ้าบ่าวjâo-bàao is the groom, the partner of เจ้าสาวjâo-sǎao, the bride. At many Thai weddings he has to get past a series of "gates", ropes or chains held by the bride's friends and relatives, who let him through only after a playful bargain and a small envelope of money: กั้นประตูgân bprà-dtuu, "blocking the door".
