How to use it

แพทย์pâet is the formal word for a doctor, the one on documents and signs, where everyday speech says หมอmǎw. A ใบรับรองแพทย์bai-ráp-rawng-pâet is a doctor's note for sick leave, and you'll also need one for a Thai driving licence and for a work permit. Clinics write them for a small fee after a quick check.
