ทิชชู่ tít-chûu
tissue; toilet paper; paper napkin noun
- tít high
- chûu falling
- High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
How to use it
Thais call every kind of paper tissue ทิชชู่tít-chûu: the napkins at a noodle stall, a pack in your bag and the toilet roll. Packs and signs say กระดาษชำระgrà-dàat cham-rá, "cleansing paper".
Many Thai toilets have a hose spray next to the paper, and in some older buildings used paper goes in the bin, not down the toilet.
