วีซ่า wii-sâa

visa noun

  • wii mid
  • sâa falling
  • Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”

How to use it

Extending a visa is ต่อวีซ่าdtàw wii-sâa, "continuing the visa", which you do at immigration, ตม.dtaw-maw. Many nationalities can arrive without a visa, which Thais call ฟรีวีซ่าfrii wii-sâa, but how long you may stay depends on your passport and the rules have changed several times, so check the current ones before you fly.

Staying past your permitted date is an overstay, อยู่เกินวีซ่าyùu goen wii-sâa: it's fined for every extra day and a long one can get you banned from coming back.
