Visiting people is เยี่ยมyîam: family, a friend in hospital (เยี่ยมคนป่วยyîam kon bpùay), a new baby. More casually, Thais just ไปหาbpai hǎa, go and see someone. Visiting a place for fun is เที่ยวtîaw: ไปเที่ยวเชียงใหม่bpai tîaw chiang-mài, to visit Chiang Mai.
The same เยี่ยมyîam means excellent: เยี่ยมมากyîam mâak, great job!
