within, inside; internal (formal) preposition
- paai mid
- nai mid
- Mid: level, in your normal speaking voice.
How to use it
ภายในpaai-nai is "within, inside" for buildings, organisations and deadlines: ภายในบริษัทpaai-nai baw-rí-sàt, in-house. For a time limit it's normal in speech too: ภายในวันนี้paai-nai wan-níi, by the end of today.
For places, conversation uses ข้างในkâang-nai, inside: รอข้างในraw kâang-nai, wait inside. Its opposite is ภายนอกpaai-nâwk, outside, external, as in บุคคลภายนอกbùk-kon paai-nâwk, outsiders.
