What the song is about

ฝากให้เขารักfàak hâi kǎo rák, “Let Him Love You for Me (Fak Hai Khao Rak)”, is a Thai rock song by Yes'sir Days (2025). A breakup ballad from the band GMM Grammy calls the godfathers of heartbreak songs: a man admits he never loved her well enough, lets her go to someone better and asks him to love her more than he did. Its lines teach the Thai of goodbyes: to pretend, nothing but, it's my fault that, to make excuses, to entrust and the everyday word for worth it, and its culture note explains karma.

Grammar in this song

ฝากfàak: leaving something in someone's hands. It's an everyday word: ฝากของไว้ก่อนได้ไหมfàak kǎwng wái gàwn dâi mǎi = can I leave my things here for now? ฝากด้วยนะfàak dûay ná = I'm counting on you, when you hand someone a task; ฝากความคิดถึงfàak kwaam kít-tǔeng = send (them) my love. The song's ฝากให้fàak hâi + person + verb trusts someone with a whole life.

Whose fault: ผิดที่pìt tîi… ผิดpìt + ที่tîi + a clause = it's wrong that…, it's (someone's) fault that…: ผิดที่ฉันเองpìt tîi chǎn eeng = it's my own fault. To say sorry for it, ขอโทษkǎw-tôot.

Nothing but, not enough: มีแต่mii dtàe, ไม่พอmâi paw. มีแต่mii dtàe + noun = there's nothing but…: มีแต่ปัญหาmii dtàe bpan-hǎa = nothing but problems. พอpaw = enough, so ไม่พอmâi paw = not enough, and พอแล้วpaw láew = that's enough.

The culture behind it

Yes'sir Days are a Bangkok band formed in 2011, with Genie Records, a GMM Grammy label, since 2017: Utt (vocals), Art (drums), Toon (bass) and Bom (guitar). "ฝากให้เขารักfàak hâi kǎo rák" came out on 9 July 2025, produced by Nat of the band Klear. GMM Grammy introduced it as the song of the พระรองprá-rawng, the second male lead of a Thai TV drama: the kind man who loves the heroine but steps aside, admitting he's not good enough, so that she can be happy with the hero. Its video tells another story of a love that can't be: a woman who has secretly loved her best friend for years watches him marry another friend, and when the couple can't have children, she agrees to carry their baby for them.

กรรมgam, karma, comes up often in Thai songs. In Buddhist teaching it is what you do, good or bad, which bears fruit in this life or a later one; in everyday Thai it often means that fruit, your lot, and กรรมตามสนองgam dtaam sà-nǎwng, karma catching up with you, is the Thai 'what goes around comes around'. Here the singer calls his broken love the karma he has to bear: he made the mistakes, so he takes the pain.
