Why do Thai months end in -คม or -ยน?
The ending tells you the length of the month: -คม (kom) months have 31 days and -ยน (yon) months have 30. February is the odd one out, กุมภาพันธ์, ending in -พันธ์.

Thailand counts years in the Buddhist Era (พ.ศ.), which is 543 years ahead: 2026 is 2569 (พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๙ in Thai digits). Western years are marked ค.ศ. when they are used.
How do you write the date in Thai?
Day first, then month, then the Buddhist year: 8/10/2569 or 8 ต.ค. 69. When speaking, say วันที่ + number + month: วันที่แปดตุลาคม, 8 October.
How do Thais say the months in conversation?
Usually without the ending: เมษา for April, ธันวา for December, often after เดือน (month): เดือนเมษา.
