How to use it

เบียร์bia comes from English and is said bia. Thais usually say กินgin (eat) rather than ดื่มdùuem (drink) for beer, and drink it over ice, so don't be surprised when a glass full of ice arrives.

The big local brands are Chang (ช้างcháang, elephant), Singha (Thais say สิงห์sǐng, lion) and Leo. Shops sell alcohol only at certain hours, and not on major Buddhist holidays.
