How to use it

ร่างกายrâang-gaai is the body as a whole, the word for health and fitness talk. In everyday speech the body is often just ตัวdtua: ตัวร้อนdtua ráwn, "hot body", means you feel feverish, and ทั้งตัวtáng dtua is all over. The กายgaai at the end also turns up in ออกกำลังกายàwk-gam-lang-gaai, to exercise.

Someone's figure is หุ่นhùn: หุ่นดีhùn dii is a compliment. Friends and aunties comment on weight more openly than many visitors are used to, and usually mean nothing unkind by it.
