Nueng BK Bandหนึ่ง บีเคแบนด์
What the song is about
เพราะพี่รักจริงpráw pîi rák jing, “Phro Phi Rak Ching (Because I Really Love You)”, is a luk thung song by Nueng BK Band (2026). A luk thung hit of the 2026 rainy season, whose hook went viral on TikTok: a scruffy country guy who smells of mud tells the pretty girl who chose him that he was minding his own business when she came to him, so she'd better not play with him, because when he loves, he means it. Plain spoken Thai, it teaches 'just', 'by yourself', 'minding my own business' and the pronouns couples use.

- พี่ pîiเป็น bpenแค่ kâeหนุ่มเซอร์ๆ nùm soe-soeแต่งตัว dtàeng-dtuaมอมแมม mawm-maem
I'm just a scruffy, arty guy in grubby clothes.
He calls himself พี่pîi, 'older brother', as the man does in a Thai couple. เป็นแค่bpen kâe = to be just, only. หนุ่มnùm = a young man, and slang เซอร์soe describes an arty, bohemian, unkempt look: หนุ่มเซอร์nùm soe = the scruffy artist type. แต่งตัวdtàeng-dtua = to dress, to get dressed; มอมแมมmawm-maem = grubby, smudged with dirt: แต่งตัวมอมแมมdtàeng-dtua mawm-maem = to dress shabbily. - เนื้อตัว núea-dtuaก็ gâwเหม็น měnกลิ่น glìnดิน dinกลิ่น glìnโคลน kloon
And I stink of earth and mud.
เนื้อตัวnúea-dtua = your body, all of you (literally 'flesh and body'): เนื้อตัวเปียกnúea-dtua bpìak = wet all over. ก็gâw = and also. เหม็นměn = to stink, to smell bad, and เหม็นกลิ่นměn glìn + X = to smell (bad) of X. หอมhǎwm is the opposite: หอมกลิ่นดอกไม้hǎwm glìn dàwk-máai = to smell of flowers. ดินdin = earth, soil; โคลนkloon = mud: he works the land. - พี่ pîiก็ gâwอยู่ yùuของ kǎwngพี่ pîiเฉยๆ chǒei-chǒeiหนู nǔuมา maaหา hǎaพี่ pîiเอง eeng
I was just minding my own business; you're the one who came to me.
The viral hook. Verb + ของkǎwng + yourself + เฉยๆchǒei-chǒei = to be doing your own thing, minding your own business: อยู่ของพี่เฉยๆyùu kǎwng pîi chǒei-chǒei. เองeeng after a verb = by yourself, of your own accord: หนูมาหาพี่เองnǔu maa hǎa pîi eeng = you came to me yourself. หนูnǔu, literally 'mouse', is what an older person calls a girl: from a man to his girlfriend it is warm and a little playful. มาหาmaa hǎa = to come to see someone. - เพราะ práwพี่ pîiรัก rákใคร kraiพี่ pîiรัก rákจริง jing
Because when I love someone, I love them for real.
The title, at the end of the chorus. A question word can mean 'whoever': พี่รักใครpîi rák krai = whoever I love, and พี่รักจริงpîi rák jing = I truly love (them). The same pattern: ใครมาก่อนได้ก่อนkrai maa gàwn dâi gàwn = first come, first served. เพราะpráw = because; จริงjing after a verb = really, for real.

Grammar in this song
Minding your own business. Verb + ของkǎwng + the person + เฉยๆchǒei-chǒei = to be just doing your own thing: นั่งของผมเฉยๆnâng kǎwng pǒm chǒei-chǒei = I was just sitting there. The chorus says it twice, with อยู่yùu (to be, stay) and นั่งnâng (to sit).

Couples' pronouns. In a Thai couple the man is often พี่pîi, 'older brother', and the woman น้องnáwng, 'younger sibling', whatever their real ages; in this song he also calls her หนูnǔu, 'mouse', the word older people use for girls and children, which sounds sweet and teasing.
The culture behind it
BK Band (บีเคแบนด์bii-kee-baen) is a luk thung band from Chanthaburi, on Thailand's eastern seaboard, with an accordion in its line-up; its singer, Nueng (Noppon Thammaboon), is the voice of the song. Written by Thai Khunthip and released by the label iboom music on 20 July 2026, its video was filmed in Chanthaburi. The hook, the guy who was just minding his own business, spread through TikTok clips, and Thairath reported 17 million views in less than a month. By October it had spent nine weeks on YouTube Thailand's weekly chart, four of them at number one (kworb).
Thairath describes the song as the story of an ordinary country guy who never thought he stood out, until a girl came to him first; now that she has made him fall for her, he asks her not to walk away, because he loves for real. Luk thung often borrows words from old Thai poetry for its love songs, and this one does too: he calls her by the pet names of old Thai verse, each starting with แม่mâe, 'mother', an old-fashioned title of affection for a woman.
