อนาคต à-naa-kót
future noun
- à low
- naa mid
- kót high
- Low: flat and lower than your normal voice, dropping a little at the end.
- High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.
How to use it
อนาคตà-naa-kót is a borrowing from Pali, with a quick first syllable. Thai verbs don't change for the future: you add a time word or จะjà, will. For plans, Thais say ในอนาคตnai à-naa-kót, in the future, or the softer วันหน้าwan nâa, "some day ahead".
