Time words in Thai

Time words are easy in Thai because verbs never change: you add a time word instead. วันนี้wan-níi (today), พรุ่งนี้prûng-níi (tomorrow) and เมื่อวานmûea-waan (yesterday) do the work of English tenses.

Parts of the day are ตอนเช้าdtawn-cháao (in the morning), ตอนบ่ายdtawn-bàai (in the afternoon) and ตอนเย็นdtawn-yen (in the evening), and Thais tell the time with their own six-hour clock. Our guides to telling the time, the days of the week and the months cover the full system.
