How to use it

มนุษย์má-nút is a human being: the word of science, the news and serious talk. In everyday speech a person is just คนkon. The last letter, with the small mark above it, is silent, so it's only two syllables, má-nút.

Two common phrases use it: office workers call themselves มนุษย์เงินเดือนmá-nút ngoen-duean, "salary humans", and human rights are สิทธิมนุษยชนsìt-tí-má-nút-sà-yá-chon.
