ขี้เกียจ kîi-gìat
lazy; can't be bothered (to) adjective
- kîi falling
- gìat low
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
- Low: flat and lower than your normal voice, dropping a little at the end.
How to use it
ขี้เกียจkîi-gìat is lazy as a trait and, before a verb, the very common "can't be bothered": ขี้เกียจไปkîi-gìat bpai, I can't be bothered to go. It's light and often self-mocking. The ขี้kîi at the start marks a habit, as in ขี้อายkîi-aai, shy. The opposite is ขยันkà-yǎn, hard-working.
