เนอะ (noe) in Thai: what it means and how to use it

เนอะnóe at the end of a sentence invites agreement: “…isn't it?”, “…right?”.

เนอะ nóe

…isn't it?, right? (inviting agreement) particle

  • nóe high
  • High: start high and go a little higher, a bit tense; don’t let it fall.

How to use it

เนอะnóe invites the other person to agree, like "isn't it?" or "don't you think?". นะná softens what you say; เนอะnóe asks for company in it. It's friendly small talk about the weather, the food or a shared moment, and the natural answer is เนอะnóe back, or ใช่châi. To check a fact you're not sure about, use ใช่ไหมchâi mǎi instead.
