ดิบ dìp
raw, uncooked; unripe adjective
- dìp low
- Low: flat and lower than your normal voice, dropping a little at the end.
How to use it
ดิบdìp is raw meat or fish, and also unripe, green fruit: มะม่วงดิบmá-mûang dìp is a hard green mango, eaten as a sour snack with chilli salt. Some Thai dishes are eaten raw, like กุ้งแช่น้ำปลาgûng châe náam-bplaa, raw prawns in a fiery fish sauce, but raw pork and raw freshwater fish carry a real risk of parasites.
The opposite is สุกsùk, cooked or ripe.
