Strand in Thai

“Strand” in Thai is เส้นsên.

เส้น sên

line; strand noun

  • sên falling
  • Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”

Also noodles: เส้นเล็กsên lék, เส้นใหญ่sên yài.

How to use it

เส้นsên is anything long and thin: a line, a string, a strand of hair and, above all, a noodle. At a noodle stall the first question is which เส้นsên you want: เส้นเล็กsên lék (thin rice noodles), เส้นใหญ่sên yài (wide ones) or บะหมี่bà-mìi (egg noodles). It's also the counting word for long things, like necklaces and roads.
