What the song is about
ดาวหางฮัลเลย์daao-hǎang han-lêe is a T-pop song by fellow fellow (2023). A love song that went viral on TikTok: Halley's comet comes back only once in a lifetime, and the singer asks the one he loves to let him share the rest of her life so they can watch it together. Its gently sung lines teach may I…?, I want to be the one who…, still have to, never before, from that day on and from now on.

Since that day, I've seen the world differently.
จากวันนั้นjàak wan nán = from that day (on); its mirror is จากนี้jàak níi, from now on, in the next key line. ก็gâw links the time to what happened next. มองmawng = to look at; มองโลกmawng lôok = to see the world, to look at life. ไม่เหมือนเดิมmâi mǔean-doem = not the same as before: เธอไม่เหมือนเดิมtoe mâi mǔean-doem = you've changed.
From now on, the calendar is there to count the days
จากนี้jàak níi (or จากนี้ไปjàak níi bpai) = from now on. มีไว้เพื่อmii wái pûea + verb = is there to, exists for: ร่มมีไว้เพื่อกันฝนrôm mii wái pûea gan fǒn = an umbrella is there to keep off the rain. นับnáp = to count; นับวันnáp wan = to count the days. The next lines add that clocks count the minutes of a life that, from now on, is only for her.
Can I be part of the rest of your life?
The hook. ขอkǎw + verb + ได้ไหมdâi mǎi = may I…?, the polite way to ask: ขอถ่ายรูปได้ไหมkǎw tàai-rûup dâi mǎi = may I take a photo? ชีวิตที่เหลือchii-wít tîi lǔea = the life that is left, the rest of (your) life. เหลือlǔea = to be left over: เหลืออีกห้านาทีlǔea ìik hâa naa-tii = five minutes left.

= I want to be the one who… ได้dâi before a verb = to get to (have the chance to): ได้นอนดูดาวdâi nawn duu daao = get to lie down and watch the stars. ข้างkâang = beside: ข้างเธอkâang toe = beside you. อีกìik + a number = … more: อีกหมื่นวันìik mùuen wan = ten thousand more days (about 27 years), อีกห้านาทีìik hâa naa-tii = five more minutes.

And there's a comet still orbiting out in space
ดาวหางdaao-hǎang = comet, literally 'star' + 'tail'. ดวงduang is the counting word for stars, the sun and the moon: ดาวหางดวงนึงdaao-hǎang duang nueng = one comet, a comet. นึงnueng is how หนึ่งnùeng (one) sounds after a counting word in everyday Thai. โคจรkoo-jawn = to orbit; อวกาศà-wá-gàat = (outer) space.
A star I've never seen before
ยังไม่เคยyang mâi koei + verb = have never (yet) done; add มาก่อนmaa gàwn for 'before': ยังไม่เคยกินทุเรียนมาก่อนyang mâi koei gin tú-rian maa gàwn = I've never had durian before. Halley's comet last passed in 1986, so for anyone born since then it really is a star they have never seen.

The culture behind it
fellow fellow is a duo of two friends who met at Rangsit University, Khao (lead vocals) and Tee (vocals and guitar); the name comes from 'fellowship', doubled because the two look alike. After ten years of releases, "ดาวหางฮัลเลย์daao-hǎang han-lêe" (29 August 2023), one of the two singles that opened their time on the Kicks Records label, spread on TikTok and went to number one on the JOOX Thailand chart and number three on Spotify Thailand's; by October 2026 it had spent more than 160 weeks on Spotify Thailand's weekly chart. Khao, who wrote it (and co-wrote Ink Waruntorn's "Erase", another song lesson here), has always loved space and first heard of Halley's comet as a child. It comes back to be seen with the naked eye about every 75 years, so, he explains, telling someone you want to wait for it with them means you want to grow old together.
Halley's comet was last seen from Earth in 1986 and, according to NASA, will be back in 2061. Thai names it the way the song shows it: a comet is a ดาวหางdaao-hǎang, a 'tailed star'.
