Jue Bo (จื่อบ่): meaning and key lines
Kantong Tungngernก้านตอง ทุ่งเงิน
What the song is about
จื่อบ่jùue bàw, “Jue Bo (Do You Remember?)”, is a luk thung song by Kantong Tungngern (2024). A hit that topped luk thung radio and spread across TikTok: a girl keeps tabs on her crush on Facebook, LINE and IG, reads far too much into a smile, and loses before she ever says 'I love you'. It mixes Isan with today's social-media Thai, and teaches how to say you're the loser, that a love was one-sided, and the Isan words for crying, remembering and 'me'.

- คึด kúetแต่ dtàeว่า wâaเขา kǎoนั้น nánมี miiใจ jaiให้ hâiเจ้าของ jâo-kǎwng
All I could think was that he had feelings for me.
Isan → Central: คึดkúet = คิดkít, to think; คึดแต่ว่าkúet dtàe wâa = all I could think was that… มีใจให้mii jai hâi + person = to have feelings for someone (literally 'have a heart for'). In Isan เจ้าของjâo-kǎwng, an 'owner' in Central Thai, also means 'oneself': here, me. เขานั้นkǎo nán = he, as for him. - นำจอบนำส่อง nam jàwp nam sàwngทั้ง tángเฟส féetทั้ง tángLINE laiทั้ง tángไอจี ai-jii
I kept checking on him in secret, on Facebook, on LINE, on IG.
Isan จอบjàwp = to do on the sly, like แอบàep, and ส่องsàwng = to peek at, to shine a light on; in today's slang ส่องsàwng is to look through someone's profile. Isan นำnam is 'to follow, keep at', so นำจอบนำส่องnam jàwp nam sàwng = to keep spying on someone. ทั้งtáng X ทั้งtáng Y = X and Y alike. เฟสféet is Facebook, ไอจีai-jii is IG, Instagram, and LINE, the chat app on every Thai phone, is said ไลน์lai. - สุดท้าย sùt-táaiเจ้าของ jâo-kǎwngได้ dâiนั่ง nângฮ้องไห้ háwng-hâai
In the end I sat there crying.
Just before this, he goes public with the girl who owns his heart. สุดท้ายsùt-táai = in the end. ได้dâi before a verb = to end up (doing it): ได้นั่งฮ้องไห้dâi nâng háwng-hâai = ended up sitting and crying. Isan → Central: ฮ้องไห้háwng-hâai = ร้องไห้ráwng-hâai, to cry (Isan h for Central r); เจ้าของjâo-kǎwng is 'myself' again. The next line says her tears poured down like rain. - ได้ dâiเป็น bpenคนแพ้ kon-páeตั้งแต่ dtâng-dtàeบ่ bàwทัน tanบอก bàwkฮัก hák
I lost before I even got the chance to say 'I love you'.
คนแพ้kon-páe = the loser (แพ้páe = to lose); the winner is คนชนะkon chá-ná. ได้เป็นdâi bpen = got to be, ended up as: said with a wry smile. ตั้งแต่dtâng-dtàe = since, already at the point when: ตั้งแต่บ่ทันdtâng-dtàe bàw tan = before I even had the time. ทันtan = to be in time: ไม่ทันmâi tan = too late. บอกฮักbàwk hák = Central บอกรักbàwk rák, to tell someone you love them. - ปิด bpìtตำนาน dtam-naanฮัก hákเขา kǎoข้างเดียว kâang-diaw
Closing the book on my one-sided love.
ปิดbpìt = to close; ตำนานdtam-naan = a legend: ปิดตำนานbpìt dtam-naan, 'to close the legend', is said of anything big that is over for good. ข้างเดียวkâang-diaw = one-sided (literally 'one side only'): รักข้างเดียวrák kâang-diaw = unrequited love, a phrase every Thai knows. Here it's ฮักเขาข้างเดียวhák kǎo kâang-diaw, loving him on her own. - ถาม tǎamเจ้าของ jâo-kǎwngคำ kamเดียว diawว่า wâaจื่อ jùueบ่ bàw
I ask myself just one thing. Have you learned your lesson?
The title. Isan จื่อjùue = จำjam, to remember, and also to learn your lesson; with a final บ่bàw it's a yes/no question, like ไหมmǎi: จื่อบ่jùue bàw = do you remember? have you learned? Again เจ้าของjâo-kǎwng is 'myself': ถามเจ้าของtǎam jâo-kǎwng = I ask myself. คำเดียวkam diaw = one word, just one thing.

Grammar in this song
Isan in a love song. Most of the song is Central Thai grammar with Isan words dropped in: คึดkúet = คิดkít (think), ฮักhák = รักrák (love), ฮ้องไห้háwng-hâai = ร้องไห้ráwng-hâai (cry): Isan h where Central Thai has r. บ่bàw = ไม่mâi (not), and at the end of a sentence it asks a yes/no question: จื่อบ่jùue bàw = do you remember? Like ไหมmǎi. The romanization reads these words as their spelling would sound in Central Thai; real Isan tones differ, so copy the singer.
'Me' without saying 'I'. Isan has its own 'I' (ข้อยkâwy), but this song never uses it: the singer is เจ้าของjâo-kǎwng, literally 'the owner', that is, herself. In Central Thai you would say ตัวเองdtua-eeng: ถามตัวเองtǎam dtua-eeng = to ask yourself.
Ended up, too late. ได้dâi + verb = to get to, to end up doing: ได้นั่งร้องไห้dâi nâng ráwng-hâai (ended up crying). ไม่ทันmâi tan + verb = didn't get to it in time: ไม่ทันบอกmâi tan bàwk (I never got to tell him).
The culture behind it
Kantong Tungngern (ก้านตองทุ่งเงินgâan-dtawng tûng-ngoen) was born Piyada Bunmee on 29 February 1988 in Buntharik district, Ubon Ratchathani, and sings for Grammy Gold. Daily News reports that her stage name came from the songwriter Sala Khunnawut, to rhyme with her older sister's, the singer Dok Aor Tungthong (ดอกอ้อทุ่งทองdàwk-âw tûng-tawng). 'Jue Bo' came out in September 2024, written by a young songwriter who goes by Luk Dong Ha Roi Ton. Thai papers reported that within a week it was trending on YouTube in both Thailand and Laos, and that it reached number one on luk thung radio; a dance to the hook, made up by students at Srinakharinwirot University, spread it across TikTok. A few months later F.HERO asked her to sing the hook of his 2025 hit Kularb, which is also on our songs page.
Grammy Gold's announcement of the song explains the title as 'do you remember?' and 'have you learned?': after a one-sided crush, she asks herself whether she has learned her lesson. Social media runs through the song, from checking his profile to the moment he 'goes public' (เปิดตัวbpòet-dtua) with the real owner of his heart.
