What the song is about

รำคาญกะบอกกันเด้อram-kaan gà bàwk gan dôe, “Ramkhan Ka Bok Kan Doe (If I Annoy You, Just Tell Me)”, is a luk thung song by Lumplern Wongsakorn (2018). A shy guy keeps messaging the girl he secretly loves on Facebook and LINE, gets no reply, and tells her: if I annoy you, just say so, and I'll stop. Lumplern Wongsakorn wrote it with Tae Trakultor, and it reached 100 million views in 38 days, a record for luk thung at the time. Sung in Isan with today's chat words, its lines teach how to say you miss someone, both … and …, two words for annoyed, and how to ask someone to be frank with you.

Key lines, explained

Tap a line to hear it. Once the video is playing, lines jump to their moment in the song.

  1. ที่ tîiอ้าย âaiทัก tákหา hǎaอยาก yàakให้ hâiเจ้า jâoฮู้ húuว่า wâaอ้าย âaiคิดฮอด kít-hâwtเจ้า jâoหลาย lǎai

When I message you, it's because I want you to know I miss you so much.

ทักták = to greet someone, and today to message them (first): ทักหาták hǎa or ทักไปหาták bpai hǎa = to send someone a message. A ที่tîi at the start picks out what is about to be explained: ที่มาวันนี้tîi maa wan-níi… = (the reason) I came today… อยากให้yàak hâi someone + verb = to want them to: อยากให้เจ้าฮู้yàak hâi jâo húu = I want you to know. Isan → Central: ฮู้húu = รู้rúu, to know; คิดฮอดkít-hâwt = คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, to miss someone; and after a verb หลายlǎai = มากmâak, very much.
  2. ทัก tákไป bpaiทั้ง tángเฟซ féetทั้ง tángไลน์ lai

I message you on Facebook and on LINE,

ทั้งtáng … ทั้งtáng … = both … and …: ทั้งร้อนทั้งเหนื่อยtáng ráwn táng nùeay = hot and tired. เฟซféet is short for Facebook, เฟซบุ๊กféet-búk (also written เฟสféet), and ไลน์lai is LINE, the chat app nearly everyone in Thailand uses. ทักไปták bpai = to message someone, with ไปbpai pointing away from the speaker. The line goes on: because he wants to talk to her.
  3. แค่ kâeอยาก yàakสิ sìเว้า wáoกับ gàpเธอ toe

I just want to talk with you.

Isan เว้าwáo = พูดpûut or คุยkui, to talk, and สิsì = จะjà, will: อยากสิเว้าyàak sì wáo = อยากจะพูดyàak jà pûut, (I) want to talk. แค่kâe = only, just. เว้ากับwáo gàp someone = to talk with them; Isan also says เว้านำwáo nam, to talk along with. Here he calls her เธอtoe, the Central Thai 'you', and elsewhere the Isan เจ้าjâo.
  4. รำคาญ ram-kaanกะบอกกัน gà bàwk ganเด้อ dôe

If I annoy you, just tell me.

The title line. รำคาญram-kaan = annoyed, bothered by something that won't stop, in Central Thai too: รำคาญเสียงดังram-kaan sǐang dang = annoyed by the noise. Thai needs no word for 'if' here: รำคาญก็บอกram-kaan gâw bàwk = (if you're) annoyed, (then) say so. Isan กะgà = ก็gâw, then, and บอกกันbàwk gan = to tell me, to let me know (กันgan = each other). Isan เด้อdôe at the end softens it, like นะná: in Central Thai, รำคาญก็บอกกันนะram-kaan gâw bàwk gan ná.
  5. มัน manผิด pìtตั้งแต่ dtâng-dtàeแอบ àepฮัก hákแล้วล่ะ láew lâ

It was wrong from the moment I fell for you in secret.

มันman, 'it', starts many spoken sentences about how things are: มันยากman yâak = it's hard. ผิดpìt = wrong, and ตั้งแต่dtâng-dtàe = since, from (a time): ผิดตั้งแต่แรกpìt dtâng-dtàe râek = wrong from the start. แอบàep + verb = to do it in secret, so แอบฮักàep hák = แอบรักàep rák, to love someone secretly. แล้วล่ะláew lâ at the end = (it's) already so, that's how it is. The line before says he knows he has no right.
  6. หนหวย hǒn-hǔayกะบอกกัน gà bàwk ganมา maa

If you're fed up with me, tell me.

Isan หนหวยhǒn-hǔay = annoyed, fed up, like Central หงุดหงิดngùt-ngìt, which the line before uses: the chorus says it three ways. The lyric sheet writes ก็gâw here, but he sings the Isan กะgà. บอกมาbàwk maa = tell (it to) me: after a verb, มาmaa points to the speaker and ไปbpai away. The chorus ends with his promise: he won't message her again, so she can feel at ease.

  • รำคาญ ram-kaan

Slang and casual Thai

  • กะบอกกัน gà bàwk gan

    then (just) tell me (Isan)

Isan กะgà = Central ก็gâw, then, and บอกกันbàwk gan = to tell me, to let me know: in Central Thai, ก็บอกกันgâw bàwk gan.

  • เฟซ féet

    Facebook (casual)

Short for เฟซบุ๊กféet-búk; also written เฟสféet.

  • แล้วล่ะ láew lâ

already, that's how it is (at the end)

แล้วláew = already, and ล่ะlâ gives it weight: สายแล้วล่ะsǎai láew lâ = it's too late now.

Grammar in this song

If, without a word for 'if'. Thai often leaves 'if' out and links the two halves with ก็gâw, then (Isan กะgà): ว่างก็มาwâang gâw maa = come if you're free; หิวก็กินhǐu gâw gin = eat if you're hungry. With 'if' it's ถ้าtâa, or in Isan คั่นkân: คั่นว่างกะมาเด้อkân wâang gà maa dôe = if you're free, come over. Both … and …: ทั้งtáng X ทั้งtáng Y: ทั้งถูกทั้งอร่อยtáng tùuk táng à-ràwy = cheap and tasty.

Isan → Central. ฮู้húu = รู้rúu (to know), ฮักhák = รักrák (to love), คิดฮอดkít-hâwt = คิดถึงkít-tǔeng (to miss), เว้าwáo = พูดpûut (to talk), สิsì = จะjà (will), หนหวยhǒn-hǔay = หงุดหงิดngùt-ngìt (fed up), and เด้อdôe ≈ นะná. The romanization reads Isan words as their spelling would sound in Central Thai; real Isan tones differ, so copy the singer. Chat words: ทักták (to message someone), ตอบแชทdtàwp cháet (to reply to a chat), ไลน์lai (LINE), เฟซféet (Facebook).

The culture behind it

Lumplern Wongsakorn (ลำเพลินวงศกรlam-ploen wong-sà-gawn), real name Wongsakorn Yowarat, was born in 1994 in Ban Kruat, Buriram, and came up through Grammy Gold's talent project for new luk thung singers, Nong Mai Tai Dao (Thai Wikipedia). Earlier in 2018 he had a comic hit with Tae Trakultor, Ho Mok Huak, and the two wrote this one together: at first just a song they sang to one guitar and posted on Lumplern's own channel, which fans began to cover before it was finished. Grammy Gold put out this lyric video on 6 August 2018, and it passed 16 million views in ten days (GMM Grammy). It reached 100 million in 38 days, which Sanook reported as the fastest any luk thung song had done it, topped JOOX's luk thung chart, and passed 400 million in July 2025 (Naew Na).

The story is a modern courtship, told in Isan: a plain, ordinary guy messages the girl he secretly loves on Facebook and LINE, waits for replies that don't come, and promises to stop the moment she tells him he's a bother. In the pre-chorus he suggests that if the man in her 'pink chat' doesn't care about her, she could turn to the 'blue chat' instead. Grammy Gold said the song spoke for young men secretly in love, who wanted to use it to tell a girl how they feel.
