ที่จริง tîi-jing
actually, in fact adverb
- tîi falling
- jing mid
- Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”
How to use it
ที่จริงtîi-jing, "in truth", starts a sentence that corrects or adds something: actually, in fact. You'll hear it even more as จริงๆแล้วjing-jing láew, "really, actually", which is a little more emphatic. Both are polite ways to disagree softly, which matters in a culture that avoids a blunt no.
