In order to in Thai

“In order to” in Thai is เพื่อpûea.

เพื่อ pûea

for, in order to, so that preposition

  • pûea falling
  • Falling: start high and drop clearly, like a firm “No!”

How to use it

เพื่อpûea gives the purpose, "in order to, for", and sounds a little careful. In speech Thais usually just put the verbs one after the other: มาเรียนmaa rian, came to study. For "so that", they say จะได้jà dâi: รีบไปจะได้ไม่สายrîip bpai jà dâi mâi sǎai, let's hurry so we won't be late. Don't mix it up with เพื่อนpûean, friend, which ends in an n.

Don't mix it up

  • เพื่อนpûean

    friend

Same tone, but it ends in n: a friend.
