- ใน naiช่วงเวลา chûang-wee-laaที่ tîiดี diiใน naiสิ่ง sìngที่ tîiเรา raoมี miiกัน gan
In the good times, in all that we have together,
The first line. ช่วงเวลาchûang-wee-laa = a time, a period of your life. ที่tîi joins a description to a noun, twice here: ช่วงเวลาที่ดีchûang-wee-laa tîi dii = the times that are good, the good times, and สิ่งที่เรามีกันsìng tîi rao mii gan = the things that we have together (สิ่งsìng = thing, กันgan = together, each other). The lyric sheet and the video's captions write ช่วงเวลาดีๆchûang-wee-laa dii-dii, with the same meaning, but Billkin sings ที่ดีtîi dii. The next line goes on about her. - ขอบคุณ kàwp-kunที่ tîiคอย kawyประคอง bprà-kawngที่ tîiโอบกอด òop-gàwtฉัน chǎnไว้ wái
Thank you for always holding me up, for holding me close.
ขอบคุณที่kàwp-kun tîi + verb = thank you for (doing something): ขอบคุณที่มาkàwp-kun tîi maa = thank you for coming, ขอบคุณที่ช่วยkàwp-kun tîi chûay = thanks for helping. คอยkawy + verb = to always be there to…: คอยประคองkawy bprà-kawng = to always hold (me) up. ประคองbprà-kawng = to support someone gently, as you steady a person who might fall. โอบกอดòop-gàwt = to put your arms around someone, to embrace; ไว้wái after it = and keep holding. - ใน naiทุก túkเรื่องราว rûeang-raaoไม่ว่า mâi wâaร้าย ráaiหรือ rǔueดี dii
In every story, whether bad or good,
เรื่องราวrûeang-raao = the story, the things that happen in a life. ไม่ว่าmâi wâa … หรือrǔue … = whether … or …, no matter: ไม่ว่าร้ายหรือดีmâi wâa ráai rǔue dii = for better or worse; ไม่ว่าฝนจะตกหรือไม่mâi wâa fǒn jà dtòk rǔue mâi = whether it rains or not. ร้ายráai = bad, wicked. The song puts bad first, so the line ends on ดีdii, which rhymes with the two lines after it. - ได้ dâiอยู่ yùuข้างๆ kâang-kâangกัน ganอยู่ yùuใน naiชีวิต chii-wítเธอ toe
To get to be by each other's side, to be part of your life,
From the chorus. ได้dâi before a verb = to get to, to be lucky enough to: ได้อยู่ข้างๆกันdâi yùu kâang-kâang gan = to get to be side by side. ข้างๆkâang-kâang = next to, beside: นั่งข้างๆฉันnâng kâang-kâang chǎn = sit next to me. อยู่ในชีวิตเธอyùu nai chii-wít toe = to be in your life. - เธอ toeยัง yangเป็น bpenความ kwaamสวยงาม sǔay-ngaamของ kǎwngฉัน chǎnเสมอ sà-mǒe
You're still the beauty in my life, always.
The end of the chorus and the title: สวยงามเสมอsǔay-ngaam sà-mǒe, always beautiful. Here from the third and last chorus. ความkwaam + adjective makes a noun: สวยงามsǔay-ngaam = beautiful, ความสวยงามkwaam sǔay-ngaam = beauty, a beautiful thing; ความรักkwaam-rák = love. ยังyang = still, เสมอsà-mǒe = always. Heard with the film, the 'you' is Amah, the grandmother, and the beauty is the time spent with her. The song's very last line says will instead of still: you will always be…

The culture behind it
"สวยงามเสมอsǔay-ngaam sà-mǒe" is the song of How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (2024), known in Thai as หลานม่าlǎan mâa, 'Grandma's grandchild'. Billkin plays M, a university dropout who moves in to look after his grandmother, played by Usha Seamkhum, when she has cancer, partly in the hope of inheriting her money. It was his first leading role in a film and the first time he sang a film's song. Directed by Pat Boonnitipat for the studio GDH, the film went viral as viewers posted videos of themselves crying, broke box-office records in several countries in Asia, and became Thailand's first entry to reach the Oscar shortlist for best international feature.
The words are by Kajorndej Promlaksa, Kob, the longtime drummer of the rock band Big Ass, who also wrote the words of Toom Yoo Nai Jai; the music is by the producer Prateep Siri-issranan, for just piano, violin and cello. Pat directed the video himself in one long take: a Sunday, the family's day, with Amah waiting for the whole family to come. Her family is Teochew Chinese-Thai, and the film's Thai title uses their word for grandma, ม่าmâa, also อาม่าaa-mâa.
