What the song is about
ขึ้นใจkûen-jai, “Khuen Jai (3am call)”, is a T-pop song by Mirrr ft. BLVCKHEART (2026). A 2026 number one on Spotify's daily chart in Thailand: at three in the morning a guy lies awake counting stars, missing the girl he has deleted from his phone but not from his heart. The title is a neat pair of idioms, not up on my screen but up in my heart, and the lines are everyday Thai about missing someone: ever since we split up, how are you doing?, I dream of you, if missing you were a sport.

- และ láeนี่ nîiจะ jàเป็น bpenอีก ìikคืน kuuenที่ tîiฉัน chǎnต้อง dtâwngนอน nawnนับ nápดาว daao
And this will be another night I lie awake counting the stars.
อีกìik + time word = another, one more: อีกคืนìik kuuen = another night, อีกครั้งìik kráng = once more. นอนnawn is to sleep or to lie down, and before another verb it means lying there doing it: นอนนับดาวnawn náp daao = to lie counting the stars, a sleepless night (counting sheep is นับแกะnáp gàe). นับnáp = to count. ที่tîi joins the description to the night: the night (that) I have to… - ก็ gâwตั้งแต่ dtâng-dtàeจากกัน jàak ganไป bpaiข้างใน kâang-naiยัง yangคิดถึง kít-tǔengเธอ toe
Ever since we split up, inside I still miss you.
ตั้งแต่dtâng-dtàe + event = ever since: ตั้งแต่เด็กdtâng-dtàe dèk = since I was a kid. จากกันไปjàak gan bpai = to part, to go separate ways: จากjàak is 'from' and 'to leave', and กันgan makes it mutual. ข้างในkâang-nai = inside, here inside his heart. ยังyang + verb = still: ยังคิดถึงyang kít-tǔeng = still miss. คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, from คิดkít (to think) and ถึงtǔeng (to reach, to), is the everyday 'to miss someone': คิดถึงนะkít-tǔeng ná = I miss you, the classic text message. ก็gâw at the start links it to what came before: well, and… - และ láeเธอ toeเป็นไง bpen ngaiไม่ค่อย mâi kâwyได้ dâiข่าว kàao
And how are you? I hardly ever hear any news of you.
เป็นไงbpen ngai = how is it?, how are you doing?, short for เป็นอย่างไรbpen yàang-rai; เป็นไงบ้างbpen ngai bâang is how friends greet each other after a while. ไม่ค่อยmâi kâwy + verb = not really, hardly: ไม่ค่อยหิวmâi kâwy hǐu = not very hungry. ได้ข่าวdâi kàao = to hear news (of someone), literally 'to get news': ไม่ได้ข่าวเลยmâi dâi kàao loei = I haven't heard a thing. และláe (and) is the written word; in speech the line would start with แล้วláew. - ลบ lópไป bpaiแต่ dtàeไม่ mâiเคย koeiจะ jàออก àwk
I deleted it, but it never goes away.
He has deleted her old photos, but they won't go away: the line before sings, in English, that she's still up on the cloud. ลบlóp = to delete, to erase; ลบไปlóp bpai = to delete (it, away). ไม่เคยจะmâi koei jà + verb = never (manages to): ไม่เคยจะออกmâi koei jà àwk = it never comes out, like a stain that won't wash out. ออกàwk = to come out, to go out. ไม่เคยmâi koei + verb on its own means 'have never': ไม่เคยไปmâi koei bpai = I've never been. - ไม่ mâiเอา aoเธอ toeขึ้น kûenจอ jawแต่ dtàeจำ jamเธอ toeขึ้นใจ kûen-jai
I don't put you up on my screen, but I know you by heart.
The title line, a play on ขึ้นkûen, to go up: เอาเธอขึ้นจอao toe kûen jaw = to put you up on the screen (a phone's wallpaper, a post), and จำขึ้นใจjam kûen-jai = to know by heart, to remember so well it's 'gone up into the heart'. จอjaw = screen. ไม่เอาmâi ao + thing = not to take it, not to want it: ไม่เอาถุงmâi ao tǔng = no bag, thanks. - ฝันถึง fǎn tǔengเป็นประจำ bpen bprà-jamอยู่ yùuเธอ toeจะ jàรู้ rúuไหม mǎi
I dream of you all the time. Do you know that?
ฝันถึงfǎn tǔeng = to dream of someone: ฝันfǎn = to dream, a dream, and ถึงtǔeng = to, about, as in คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, to miss. เป็นประจำbpen bprà-jam = regularly, as a habit: ไปวัดเป็นประจำbpai wát bpen bprà-jam = to go to the temple regularly. อยู่yùu after a verb = an ongoing state: it keeps happening. เธอจะรู้ไหมtoe jà rúu mǎi = would you know?, do you know?, a wistful question to someone who isn't there. - ถ้า tâaความ kwaamคิดถึง kít-tǔengเป็น bpenกีฬา gii-laaฉัน chǎnคง kongเป็น bpenแชมป์ cháem
If missing you were a sport, I'd be the champion.
BLVCKHEART's rap verse. ความkwaam + a verb makes it a noun: ความคิดถึงkwaam kít-tǔeng = missing someone, longing, just as ความรักkwaam-rák is love and ความหวังkwaam-wǎng hope. ถ้าtâa… คงkong… = if…, (I) would probably…: ถ้าฝนตกคงไม่ไปtâa fǒn dtòk kong mâi bpai = if it rains, I probably won't go. กีฬาgii-laa = sport. แชมป์cháem is English 'champ', said with a high tone.

The culture behind it
Mirrr is a duo from Chiang Mai: singer and songwriter Tito (Letach Ketsook) and guitarist Nao, who met in Chiang Mai University's music club. The name comes from ละเมอlá-moe, to talk or walk in your sleep: people told them that making music for a living was a daydream, so they made it at night, half asleep. They broke through in 2020 with นิโคตินní-koo-dtin (Nicotine) and joined the label What The Duck in 2021.
"ขึ้นใจkûen-jai (3am call)" came out in July 2026 with this official visualizer. Tito wrote it, and BLVCKHEART, a young singer and rapper from Nakhon Sawan, wrote and raps the middle verse; his own Have a Good Time is here too. By mid-October it had been number one on Spotify's daily chart for Thailand on 23 days. It is a song about the small hours and the phone: her photos deleted but not forgotten, rivals waiting for her on Facebook and IG, and a call he hopes will come at three in the morning.
