Thi Doem (ที่เดิม): meaning and key lines
PUN
What the song is about
ที่เดิมtîi doem, “Thi Doem (The Same Place)”, is a T-pop song by PUN (2024). From the album that Spotify's Wrapped named Thailand's top Thai album of 2025: PUN sings as the one who stays in the same place after a break-up while the other has moved on. Its slow, clear lines teach to see, the same place, too young to understand, is still doing, probably and the many uses of the word doem, the same as before.

- ฉัน chǎnเห็น hěnถึง tǔengความว่างเปล่า kwaam-wâang-bplàaoใน naiดวงตา duang-dtaaนั้น nánของ kǎwngเธอ toe
I saw the emptiness in those eyes of yours.
The first line, which the lyric sheet splits in two. เห็นhěn = to see; เห็นถึงhěn tǔeng = to see, to notice, for things you feel more than see. ความว่างเปล่าkwaam-wâang-bplàao = emptiness: ว่างเปล่าwâang-bplàao = empty, blank, and ความkwaam in front makes a noun, as in ความหวังkwaam-wǎng (hope). ดวงตาduang-dtaa = eyes, the word of songs and writing; in speech, ตาdtaa. ดวงตานั้นของเธอduang-dtaa nán kǎwng toe = those eyes of yours: the noun comes first, then 'that', then whose. - เวลา wee-laaกำลัง gam-langทำงาน tam-ngaan
Time is at work.
กำลังgam-lang + verb = to be doing it right now: กำลังทำงานgam-lang tam-ngaan = is working, กำลังกินข้าวgam-lang gin kâao = (I'm) eating. เวลาwee-laa = time and ทำงานtam-ngaan = to work: here time itself is the one at work. On its own, กำลังgam-lang is a noun, strength, power. - ฉัน chǎnยัง yangอยู่ yùuที่เดิม tîi doem
I'm still in the same place.
The title, which comes back again and again. ที่เดิมtîi doem = the same place, where it was before, from ที่tîi (place) and เดิมdoem (original, former). ยังyang + verb = still: ยังอยู่yang yùu = to still be (there); ยังไม่ตื่นyang mâi dtùuen = not awake yet. อยู่yùu = to be (somewhere), to stay: อยู่ที่ไหนyùu tîi-nǎi = where are you? - มัน manคง kongเป็น bpenเพราะว่า práw wâaฉัน chǎnเด็ก dèkเกินกว่าจะ goen gwàa jàเข้าใจ kâo-jai
Maybe it's because I was too young to understand.
มันคงเป็นเพราะว่าman kong bpen práw wâa… = it's probably because…: คงkong = probably, เพราะว่าpráw wâa = because. เด็กdèk = a child, and as an adjective, young: ยังเด็กอยู่yang dèk yùu = still young. เกินกว่าจะgoen gwàa jà + verb = too … to…: เด็กเกินกว่าจะเข้าใจdèk goen gwàa jà kâo-jai = too young to understand, ร้อนเกินกว่าจะกินráwn goen gwàa jà gin = too hot to eat. The lyric sheet breaks the line after เกินgoen; he sings it in one breath. - แต่ dtàeที่เดิม tîi doemของ kǎwngเธอ toeคง kongไม่ mâiเหมือนเดิม mǔean-doem
But your 'same place' is probably not the same any more.
A play on เดิมdoem: his ที่เดิมtîi doem hasn't moved, but hers has changed. ที่เดิมของเธอtîi doem kǎwng toe = your same place (ของkǎwng = of, belonging to). คงkong = probably. ไม่เหมือนเดิมmâi mǔean-doem = not the same as before: เขาไม่เหมือนเดิมkǎo mâi mǔean-doem = he's changed. At a café, เหมือนเดิมmǔean-doem means 'the usual'.

The culture behind it
PUN is Pun Sornawat Pichaironnarongsongkram, born in 2003, who writes his own words and music. He started out in the hip-hop crew YARBCREW, had his first hit, KRYPTONITE, on F.HERO's label High Cloud Entertainment, and then moved to Universal Music Thailand, which released his first album, PUN, in 2024: 14 songs he wrote about the years from 15 to 21 (Read The Cloud, ELLE Men Thailand). "ที่เดิมtîi doem" is one of them. Spotify named PUN the top Thai album of 2025 in Thailand, and put PUN third on its list of the year's Thai artists there (Spotify Wrapped 2025); this song had spent 108 weeks on Spotify's weekly chart for Thailand by October 2026 (kworb).
When its music video came out in October 2024, the last of a series of videos for the album, the label described the song with a Thai internet joke about someone who keeps 'moving on in a circle': still waiting in the same place while the other person has grown far away, and PUN said he wanted to show how much that hurts (Universal Music Thailand). This upload is the album track itself, with the album's cover.
