to like verb
Answer ชอบไหมchâwp mǎi with ชอบchâwp or ไม่ชอบmâi châwp, not with yes or no.

Do you like it?

I like iced coffee.

to want to (+ verb) verb
A verb follows it: อยากกินyàak gin, want to eat.
- อยาก yàakกิน ginอะไร à-rai
What do you want to eat?

I want to drink coffee.

to eat verb
The everyday word. Formal รับประทานráp-bprà-taan is for menus and speeches.

I like Thai food.

to drink verb
In everyday speech Thais often use กินgin for drinks too: กินกาแฟgin gaa-fae.
- ดื่ม dùuemกาแฟ gaa-faeไหม mǎi
Would you like some coffee?
- ไม่ mâiดื่ม dùuemกาแฟ gaa-fae
I don't drink coffee.

- ไป bpai
to go; too (after an adjective) verb
After an adjective it means too: แพงไปpaeng bpai, too expensive.
- หวาน wǎanไป bpai
It's too sweet.
- อยาก yàakไป bpaiไหม mǎi
Do you want to go?

- ไม่ค่อย mâi kâwy
not very, not really adverb
Softer than a flat ไม่mâi: Thais often say ไม่ค่อยชอบmâi kâwy châwp to be polite.
- ไม่ค่อย mâi kâwyหวาน wǎan
Not very sweet.
- ไม่ค่อย mâi kâwyชอบ châwp
I don't really like it.

- รู้ rúu
to know verb
You've already heard its cousin in ยินดีที่ได้รู้จักyin-dii tîi dâi rúu-jàk: รู้จักrúu-jàk is to know a person.

Do you know?
- ไม่ mâiรู้ rúu
I don't know.

to have; there is verb
One word for have and there is: มีน้ำแข็งไหมmii nám-kǎeng mǎi is Is there ice? or Do you have ice?
- มี miiชา chaaไทย taiไหม mǎiครับ kráp
Do you have Thai tea?
Men มีชาไทยไหมครับ Women มีชาไทยไหมคะ
- ไม่ mâiมี mii
We don't have any.

beautiful, pretty adjective
For women, places and things; a man is หล่อlàw, handsome.
- เชียงใหม่ chiang-màiสวย sǔayมาก mâak
Chiang Mai is really beautiful.

Is Thailand beautiful?

fun adjective
Sanuk is a Thai value: if something isn't fun, why do it?

Thai is fun.

expensive adjective
- แพง paengไหม mǎi
Is it expensive?

The coffee isn't expensive.

a lot, many, much adjective

It's crowded.
- น้ำแข็ง nám-kǎengเยอะ yóeไป bpai
Too much ice.

correct, that's right adjective
It sounds like a quiz host: Correct! In everyday chat ใช่châi is more common.

- เลย loei
(emphasis) really, totally; (not) at all particle
It goes at the very end: after มากmâak it adds emphasis, and after a negative it means at all.
- ชอบ châwpมาก mâakเลย loei
I really love it!
- ไม่ mâiแพง paengเลย loei
It's not expensive at all.
