company noun
ทำงานบริษัทtam-ngaan baw-rí-sàt (to work for a company) is how Thais say they have an office job.

salary (monthly pay) noun
Friends and relatives may well ask เงินเดือนเท่าไหร่ngoen-duean tâo-rài (how much do you earn?): in Thailand it isn't a rude question.

Is the salary good?
- เงินเดือน ngoen-dueanน้อย náwyกว่า gwàaที่ tîiกรุงเทพ grung-têep
The salary is lower than in Bangkok.

- หัวหน้า hǔa-nâa
boss, manager, head (of a team) noun
Your boss at work. Our friend บอสbáwt got his nickname from the English word; his own boss is his หัวหน้าhǔa-nâa.

The boss is really nice.
- หัวหน้า hǔa-nâaใหม่ màiเป็น bpenคน konยังไง yang-ngai

- สัมภาษณ์ sǎm-pâat
to interview; (job) interview verb
A job interview is สัมภาษณ์งานsǎm-pâat ngaan. In the spelling, the last letter (the one with the small mark above it) is silent.
- พรุ่งนี้ prûng-níiมี miiสัมภาษณ์ sǎm-pâatงาน ngaan
I have a job interview tomorrow.
- สัมภาษณ์ sǎm-pâatเป็น bpenยังไง yang-ngai

experience (of work, of life) noun
Work experience, and life experience too: a year abroad is a ประสบการณ์ดีbprà-sòp-gaan dii, a good experience.
- ได้ dâiประสบการณ์ bprà-sòp-gaanเยอะ yóe
You get a lot of experience.
- มี miiประสบการณ์ bprà-sòp-gaanไหม mǎi
Do you have any experience?

- ลาออก laa-àwk
to quit, resign verb
- อยาก yàakลาออก laa-àwk
I want to quit.
- เขา kǎoลาออก laa-àwkแล้ว láew
He's quit.

- ย้าย yáai
to move (house, job, city) verb
High tone. Mid-tone ยายyaai is a grandmother: ยายย้ายไปเชียงใหม่yaai yáai bpai chiang-mài, Granny moved to Chiang Mai.
- จะ jàย้าย yáaiมา maaเชียงใหม่ chiang-mài
I'm going to move to Chiang Mai.
- เมื่อไหร่ mûea-ràiจะ jàย้าย yáai

- ตัดสินใจ dtàt-sǐn-jai
to decide verb
ใจjai (heart, mind) hides in many words you know: เข้าใจkâo-jai, ใจดีjai-dii, and now ตัดสินใจdtàt-sǐn-jai.
- ตัดสินใจ dtàt-sǐn-jaiหรือยัง rǔue-yang
Have you decided yet?
- ยัง yangตัดสินใจ dtàt-sǐn-jaiไม่ mâiได้ dâi
I still can't decide.

chance, opportunity noun
- เป็น bpenโอกาส oo-gàatดี diiนะ ná
It's a good opportunity.
- โอกาส oo-gàatแบบ bàepนี้ níiไม่ mâiได้ dâiมี miiบ่อย bàwy
Chances like this don't come along often.

- คุ้ม kúm
worth it, good value adjective
Thais use it all the time about prices: คุ้มมากkúm mâak is 'great value', ไม่คุ้มmâi kúm 'not worth it'.
- คุ้ม kúmไหม mǎi
Is it worth it?
- ราคา raa-kaaนี้ níiคุ้ม kúmมาก mâak
That's great value for the price.

- เครียด krîat
stressed adjective
Say the k and the r together, with a falling tone: krîat.
- ตอนนี้ dtawn-níiเครียด krîatมาก mâak
I'm really stressed right now.
- ไม่ต้อง mâi dtâwngเครียด krîat
Don't stress.

- ปัญหา bpan-hǎa
problem noun
ไม่มีปัญหาmâi mii bpan-hǎa (no problem) is a cheerful yes to a favour.
- ไม่ mâiมี miiปัญหา bpan-hǎa
No problem.
- มี miiปัญหา bpan-hǎaอะไร à-raiหรือเปล่า rǔue bplàao
