Tilly Birdsทิลลี่เบิร์ด
What the song is about
คิด(แต่ไม่)ถึงkít (dtàe mâi) tǔeng, “Same Page? (Missing You, but It Doesn't Reach You)”, is a T-pop song by Tilly Birds (2020). Tilly Birds' breakthrough hit, about a love that is fading on one side only: he misses her all the time and wonders whether she misses him as much. Its title splits the Thai word for 'to miss' in two, so that it never reaches her. Its lines teach every day and every night, the same amount, am I imagining it?, I still think of, and a double negative that means always.

- คิด kítอยู่ yùuทุกวัน túk wanคิด kítอยู่ yùuทุก túkคืน kuuen
Thinking of you every day, thinking of you every night.
The song's first words. Verb + อยู่yùu = to be …-ing, to keep …-ing: คิดอยู่kít yùu = to keep thinking. ทุกวันtúk wan = every day; ทุกtúk + noun = every: ทุกคืนtúk kuuen = every night, ทุกคนtúk kon = everyone. Here คิดkít, to think, stands for คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, to miss, the word the title splits in two. - ว่า wâaความ kwaamคิดถึง kít-tǔengของ kǎwngเธอ toeกับ gàpฉัน chǎnมัน manเท่ากัน tâo-ganหรือเปล่า rǔue bplàao
…whether your longing and mine are the same.
The chorus, and the English title's question: are we on the same page? It follows on from 'I only want to know'. ว่าwâa = that, whether. ความkwaam turns a verb into a noun: ความคิดถึงkwaam kít-tǔeng = missing someone, longing. ของเธอกับฉันkǎwng toe gàp chǎn = yours and mine. เท่ากันtâo-gan = the same amount, equal: ราคาเท่ากันraa-kaa tâo-gan = the same price. หรือเปล่าrǔue bplàao at the end = …or not?: here, whether or not. - ฉัน chǎnไม่ mâiคิดไปเอง kít bpai eengใช่ไหม châi mǎi
I'm not just imagining it, am I?
คิดไปเองkít bpai eeng = to imagine things, to read too much into something (คิดkít = to think, ไปbpai = off, too far, เองeeng = by yourself): เธอคิดไปเองtoe kít bpai eeng = you're imagining it. ใช่ไหมchâi mǎi at the end turns a statement into a check, like 'right?': เธอเป็นคนไทยใช่ไหมtoe bpen kon tai châi mǎi = you're Thai, right? Third holds ไหมmǎi on a long note. - ยัง yangนึกถึง núek tǔengวัน wanนั้น nán
I still think of that day.
The line goes on: the day we laughed together. ยังyang = still. นึกถึงnúek tǔeng = to think of, to have something come to mind, while คิดถึงkít-tǔeng is to miss: นึกถึงบ้านnúek tǔeng bâan = to think of home, คิดถึงบ้านkít-tǔeng bâan = to be homesick. วันนั้นwan nán = that day (นั้นnán, that, goes after the noun). - ไม่ mâiเคย koeiไม่ mâiคิดถึง kít-tǔengเธอ toeเลย loei
There's never been a time I didn't miss you.
The song's last line, after 'if you're never coming back, I want you to know that at every moment…'. Two negatives make a strong yes: ไม่เคยmâi koei (never) + ไม่คิดถึงmâi kít-tǔeng (not miss) = never not missing you, always missing you. เลยloei after a negative = at all. At the very end, คิดถึงkít-tǔeng is sung whole.

The culture behind it
Tilly Birds (Just Being Friendly, Until Then) are the Bangkok trio of Third (vocals), Billy (guitar) and Milo (drums), who made their name on GeneLab, a GMM Grammy label; since April 2026 they have been on Bridge, one of the labels of Kruengkao Group, the company of GeneLab's founder Ohm Pantapol. This song, Same Page?, came out on 26 February 2020, and its video on 20 March: Third wrote the words, the band the music, Milo arranged it and Billy produced it, and it is on their first album, ผู้เดียวpûu diaw (The One), from later that year. It went to number one on JOOX, Spotify and Apple Music in Thailand and stayed there for two months; the band said the idea came from a couple whose feelings weren't on the same page, and that they gave the sad song a groove so it wouldn't sound too sad.
The Thai title is a pun. คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, to miss someone, is made of คิดkít, to think, and ถึงtǔeng, to reach. In the hook, backing singers slip แต่ไม่dtàe mâi (but not) between the two halves, so 'I miss you' becomes 'I think of you, but it doesn't reach you': the missing he sends never arrives. In the video, which Third co-directed, two exes meet again at a party.
