Thai love phrases
52 phrases with audio · male and female forms
Thai couples rarely say "I love you" the way phrasebooks write it. The textbook ฉันรักคุณchǎn rák kun is correct, but in real life the pronouns usually disappear and you hear รักนะrák ná, "love you". Even more common is คิดถึงkít-tǔeng, "I miss you", which Thais say and text far more often than รักrák.
Pronouns change once you're a couple. Partners call each other ที่รักtîi-rák (darling), use พี่pîi and น้องnáwng depending on who is older, or the cute เค้าkáo (me) and ตัวเองdtua-eeng (you). Compliments are part of everyday flirting: สวยsǔay (beautiful), น่ารักnâa-rák (cute) and หล่อlàw (handsome).
Love is also shown through care rather than words: asking whether your partner has eaten, telling them to text when they get home, worrying (เป็นห่วงbpen-hùang) when they're late. The phrases here cover both the sweet words and the caring ones, with audio for men and women.
